Reaching Out to Governance Professionals – Privacy Commissioner Spoke at the 13th Biennial Corporate Governance Conference of the Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute

The Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (Privacy Commissioner), Ms Ada CHUNG Lai-ling, spoke as a panellist at the panel discussion entitled “Harnessing technology” held on 23 September 2022 at the “13th Biennial Corporate Governance Conference” organised by the Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI).

During the panel discussion, the Privacy Commissioner emphasised that while the use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) presents huge opportunities and benefits to businesses, its use also brings unprecedented privacy risks which should be timely and appropriately addressed. She also appealed to companies to adopt a Personal Data Privacy Management Programme and appoint a Data Protection Officer to more effectively handle the data in their possession and to minimise the risks of data breaches. 


The Privacy Commissioner spoke as a panellist at the “13th Biennial Corporate Governance Conference”. 
Other panellists included Dr Jag KUNDI, Adjunct Professor, EMBA Program, City University of Hong Kong; Mr Adam STUCKERT, Group Chief Digital Officer, Tricor Group; and Mr Kok Tin GAN, Partner, PwC Hong Kong. Mr Mohan DATWANI FCG HKFCG(PE), Deputy Chief Executive, HKCGI chaired this panel.
