Privacy Commissioner Mr Stephen Wong was invited to deliver a presentation at the Centre for Information Policy Leadership Workshop in collaboration with the Singapore Personal Data Protection Commission on “Implementing Accountability” in Singapore (26 July 2018)

Privacy Commissioner Mr Stephen Kai-yi Wong was invited to attend the Centre for Information Policy Leadership Workshop in collaboration with the Singapore Personal Data Protection Commission on “Implementing Accountability” and deliver a presentation.

The Workshop, designed to explain to organisations how to implement comprehensive privacy management and accountability programmes, was attended by more than 130 participants from different sectors, including small and medium enterprises (SME). 

In the panel session titled “A Regulator’s Perspective on Accountability and How to Incentivise It”, the Privacy Commissioner, joined by the Commissioner and Chairman, Philippines National Privacy Commission Mr Raymund Liboro, and the Deputy Commissioner, Singapore Personal Data Protection Commission Mr Yeong Zee-kin, shared their perspectives, experiences and expectations with respect to organisational accountability and how regulators can incentivise organisations to be more accountable.

The Privacy Commissioner elaborated the framework of Privacy Management Programme (PMP) that he advocated to achieve accountability, the consultancy project on implementation of PMP in Hong Kong Government, as well as the engagement with SME through education, promotion, exchanges and dialogues to promote accountability, and the office’s latest project in promoting data ethics.
