Privacy Commissioner Leads Staff Members to Visit
the National Security Exhibition Gallery

The Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (Privacy Commissioner), Ms Ada CHUNG Lai-ling, led a group of 20 staff members from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) to visit the National Security Exhibition Gallery today. The PCPD staff members reviewed modern Chinese history under the guidance of the docents during the tour, which deepened their understanding of national security.

The Privacy Commissioner said, “I am very grateful to the Secretary General of the Committee for Safeguarding National Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Mr Sonny AU Chi-kwong, Person-in-charge of the National Security Exhibition Gallery, Mr CHEUNG Kin-kwong, and their team for arranging the tour for the PCPD, which allowed the PCPD staff members to gain further insights into the 20 security fields of the holistic approach to national security. Data security, cyber security and artificial intelligence security, which also involve preventing infringements on personal data privacy, are the major areas of the holistic approach to national security. As the authority responsible for monitoring and supervising compliance with the provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, the PCPD will continue to promote data security, cyber security and artificial intelligence security to ensure that national security and the personal data privacy of members of the public are adequately safeguarded.”

The National Security Exhibition Gallery is the first thematic gallery in the HKSAR dedicated to systematic promotion of national security education. Located on the second floor of the Hong Kong Museum of History in Tsim Sha Tsui, with an area of over 1,100 square metres, the National Security Exhibition Gallery has been open to the public free of charge starting from August 2024.
