PCPD Warns Against
Phishing Email and Fraudulent Website


The office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong (PCPD) would like to alert members of the public to the following phishing email and fraudulent website.  The email was not issued by the PCPD and the website was not set up by the PCPD.
 
The fraudulent email invites members of the public to be witnesses of a complaint case being handled by the PCPD.  The email is sent from the following email address: noreply@notification-pdpcgov.com
 
The email provides a link to a website purportedly allowing access to details of the complaint case:
https://www.pdpcgov.com/report/investigation?=Ng676
 
The aforementioned email is not from the PCPD.  Neither is the website link therein related to the PCPD. The domain name of PCPD’s email address and website are pcpd.org.hk.
 
The PCPD reminds members of the public not to open the email and the website link therein, and not to reply to the email. If in doubt, members of the public may contact the PCPD at 2827 2827, report to the Police or contact the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force at 2860 5012.
