New Members of Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee Appointed

(25 September 2015) The Government today (September 25) announced the appointment of two new members and re-appointment of six incumbent members to the Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee (“Advisory Committee”) for a term of two years with effect from 1 October 2015.

The Advisory Committee was established under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance to advise the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data on the protection of personal data privacy and matters relevant to the implementation of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.

The Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Mr Stephen WONG, who chairs the Advisory Committee said, “Members of the Advisory Committee come from a wide range of sectors and services with expertise covering all areas. I must thank Ms Shirley HA Suk-ling and Mr SIU Sai-wo, who will be retiring from the Committee, for their devotion and valuable contributions in the past years to the work of the Office relating to the promotion, monitoring and supervision of compliance. I also welcome the new Committee members, Ms Cordelia CHUNG and Mr Stephen LOH Chan. I look forward to working closely with all members of the Committee whose wisdom and expertise will be pivotal to the protection of personal data privacy and safeguarding the free flow of information.”

The new membership of the Advisory Committee (from 1 October 2015 to 30 September 2017) is as follows:
