Thank you very much for your enquiry. Our response to your enquiry is as follows:
Enquiry
“I would like to make an enquiry regarding the loss of a filing cabinet which was being used to store the personal details of 442 patients, 100 of which are still alive.
Queen Mary Hospital has said it has filed a report with the PCPD. I was hoping to ask:
1. How will the PCPD handle this incident?
2. Are there any risks faced by the patients whose personal data has gone missing?”
Answer 1:
-
The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) has received the data breach notification from the Hospital Authority (HA) today and has initiated a compliance check to follow up the case.
Answer 2:
-
The PCPD has advised the HA to inform affected individuals as soon as practicable to contain the risks of abuse of personal data and/or identity thefts, etc.
