Response to media enquiry on personal data issues of a public opinion organisation
Thank you very much for your enquiry about a suspected data breach incident. Without commenting on individual cases, the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong (PCPD) responds as follows in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO):

“I am writing to ask for information regarding a suspected data breach at Hong Kong Public Opinion Research Institute. I would like to know if the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data has received any reports or complaints regarding the suspected data breach?”

The PCPD has initiated a compliance check in accordance with established procedures to find out the relevant facts and to ascertain the situation with the relevant organisation. No further comments would be made at this stage.

As of 5:00 pm today, the PCPD did not receive any relevant complaint.
