Investigation Report

Under section 38 of the Ordinance, the PCPD conducts an investigation of suspected breaches of the Ordinance upon receiving a complaint or has reasonable grounds to believe there may be a contravention of a requirement under the Ordinance. Under section 48(2) of the Ordinance, the Commissioner may, after completing an investigation, and if he considers that it is in the public interest to do so, publish a report setting out the investigation results, and any recommendations or comments arising from the investigation, as he sees fit. In other words, investigation reports are published on a justifiable basis. The list of investigation reports below, therefore, does not represent all the investigations having been conducted.

Inspection Report

Under section 36 of the Ordinance, the Commissioner may carry out an inspection of any personal data system by a data user or a class of data users for the purposes of ascertaining information to assist him in making recommendations.

Compliance Check Report

Under section 8(1) of the Ordinance, the Commissioner shall monitor and supervise compliance with the provisions of the Ordinance, and promote awareness and understanding of, and compliance with, the provisions of the Ordinance.
