Enquiry relating to Code of Practice on Consumer Credit Data

Q: When I discover that my credit report contains inaccurate data, what can I do?

A: You can either contact the credit provider and request it to make the correction and update the data kept in the database of the credit reference agency ("CRA") (Clause 2.5 of the Code) or alternatively, you can make a data access and correction request with the CRA who shall make the correction after verification with the credit provider (Clause 3.19). Where correction is in respect of public record data, the CRA shall make the correction after its accuracy is verified after checking with the relevant public records (Clause 3.20).
