APEC Cross-border Privacy Enforcement Arrangement (CPEA)
The PCPD has joined the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Cross-border Privacy Enforcement Arrangement (CPEA) since 2010.
This multilateral arrangement provides the mechanism in the APEC region for privacy enforcement authorities to share information and provide assistance for cross-border data privacy enforcement. The CPEA signifies the ongoing commitment within APEC to increase the protection of cross-border flow of personal information and is a significant step in the effective implementation of the APEC Privacy Framework. <more about CEPA>

APEC Electronic Commerce Steering Group (ECSG) Data Privacy Subgroup
The ECSG promotes the development and use of electronic commerce by creating legal, regulatory and policy environments in the APEC region that are predictable, transparent and consistent.
The PCPD participates actively in the Data Privacy Subgroup under the ECSG, contributing to the implementation of the APEC Cross Border Privacy Rules System and the Privacy Recognition for Processors System. <more about ECSG>

Asia Pacific Privacy Authority (APPA)
APPA, formed in 1992, is the principal forum for privacy authorities in the Asia Pacific Region to form partnerships and exchange ideas about privacy regulation, new technologies and the management of privacy enquiries and complaints. The PCPD is a member of APPA and a standing member of its Governance Committee. <more about APPA>

Forum
APPA members convene twice a year, discussing permanent agenda items such as jurisdictional reports from each member and an initiative-sharing roundtable. Topical issues canvassed by forums include privacy and security, a World Anti-Doping Code, cross-jurisdictional law enforcement in the Pacific Rim, privacy legislation amendments, cryptography and personal data privacy. <more about the Forum>

Technology Working Group (convenor)
At the 33rd APPA Forum, members agreed with the proposed Terms of Reference of the newly formed Technology Working Group to be led by the PCPD. The Group collaborates on common issues experienced across APPA jurisdictions.

The Global Privacy Enforcement Network (GPEN)
GPEN was established in 2008 to foster cross-border cooperation among privacy enforcement authorities. It primarily seeks to promote cooperation by:

exchanging information about relevant issues, trends and experiences;

encouraging training opportunities and sharing of enforcement know-how, expertise and good practice;

promoting dialogue with organisations having a role in privacy enforcement; and
-
creating, maintaining and supporting processes or mechanisms useful to bilateral or multilateral cooperation.

International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners (ICDPPC)
ICDPPC, which first met in 1979, is the premier forum for privacy commissioners from around the world. It has a representation of about 100 privacy enforcement and data protection authorities, non-governmental organisations and observers from over 60 countries. ICDPCC Global Cross Border Enforcement Cooperation Arrangement
The PCPD was accepted as a participant to the Global Cross Border Enforcement Cooperation Arrangement (“Arrangement”) in November 2015. <click here to view other participants>
The purpose of this Arrangement is to foster data protection compliance by organisations processing personal data across borders. It encourages and facilitates cooperation amongst privacy enforcement authorities by sharing information, particularly confidential enforcement-related information about potential or on-going investigations, and where appropriate, the Arrangement also coordinates enforcement activities of privacy enforcement authorities to ensure that their scarce resources can be used as efficiently and effectively as possible. <more about the Arrangement>

International Conference Personal Data Protection
The Conference "Personal Data Protection" is an annual event organised by Roskomnadzor (The Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media).
Over the course of the Conference the current issues of all concerned parties, spanning representatives of the competent authorities and personal data operators to regular personal data subjects, are discussed.

The International Working Group on Data Protection in Telecommunications (IWGDPT)
The International Working Group on Data Protection in Telecommunications (also known as the Berlin Group) was founded in 1983 in the framework of the International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners at the initiative of the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection, who has since then been chairing the Group. The Group has since 1983 adopted numerous recommendations (“Common Positions” and “Working Papers”) aimed at improving the protection of privacy in telecommunications. Membership of the Group includes representatives from Data Protection Authorities and other bodies of national public administrations, international organisations and scientists from all over the world. Since the beginning of the 1990s the Group has in particular focused on the protection of privacy on the Internet. <more about IWGDPT>
