Privacy Commissioner Attends the Opening Ceremony cum Seminar of the “National Security Education Day”

The Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (Privacy Commissioner), Ms Ada CHUNG Lai-ling, attended the Opening Ceremony cum Seminar of the “National Security Education Day” on 15 April.
 
On 1 July 2015, the National Security Law of the Country was passed at the 15th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People’s Congress, and the National People’s Congress designated 15 April of each year as the “National Security Education Day”. This year marks the 10th “National Security Education Day”, fifth anniversary of the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, as well as the first anniversary of implementation of the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance.
 
The Privacy Commissioner said, “My Office (PCPD) has proactively strengthened enforcement, publicity and educational efforts regarding data security, cyber security and artificial intelligence security in recent years. As the authority responsible for monitoring and supervising compliance with the provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, the PCPD will continue to promote the key areas of the holistic approach to national security, and to safeguard national security and the personal data privacy of members of the public.”
